If I had a time machine, the first thing I'd do—OK, not the first thing—would be go back to 1997 and stop myself from cutting my long hair into a bob right before my senior prom. I completely missed out on the over-the-top (literally) updos of the era, and I'll always regret that. But a new Savage x Fenty photo shoot starring Rihanna herself has shown me that it's never too late to live your ‘90s prom updo dreams.

Is it too late to go to prom? Yes. But it's apparently not too early to get into the holiday spirit, according to a new Instagram carousel posted by Rihanna, in which she shows off the new winter knit print version of the Forever Savage Hooded Onesie. We see her lounging around on what appears to be Christmas morning, playing with wrapping paper and string lights in a festive living room.

Even though I know it's not even close to Christmas yet, the illusion wasn't broken for me until I saw the photo of Rihanna pointing a rose gold blow dryer at her hair sans diffuser. On those curls? Absolutely not.

Rihanna has piled a massive amount of golden blonde hair into a gorgeously amorphous updo atop her head. Bouncy spirals pour from it, creating countless tendrils all around. Although it looks exactly like a retro homecoming queen look, its loose vibes also work perfectly for a casual hang in the living room. It's giving morning after a huge holiday party.

While we don't know exactly how her hairstylist achieved the look, it definitely seems like a quality curling iron was involved. We happen to love the Best of Beauty Award-winning T3 CurlWrap Auto-Rotating Curling Iron. (Now that would make a great holiday gift.)
